Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is employed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email, but to seem as being sent from another one, ordinarily with the objective to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers globally have it. The record contains all email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and when its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the target receiver. In case, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message won't be submitted and it'll be removed. If you use this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam which seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

If you host your domains in a web hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mails for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a separate section where you can view which domain names are currently secured. For the ones that are not, you can activate the SPF protection service and configure a variety of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your emails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last mentioned solution is the most secure one, and it can be used if we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domain names and do not use some other email service provider. The new records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message with your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, offers you a very easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF security service for every domain that you host within your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your e-mails. When the e-mails are handled on our end and not by another provider, you will be able to raise the security level even further and activate an option for all of the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option gives you better control and it will eliminate any possibility of anyone counterfeiting your email addresses with the intention of spamming and scamming people. It is not applicable in case only your website is on our outstanding cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are managed by some other provider. If you are not sure what options to choose, our technical support crew will assist you 24/7.
